Boards set to People I invite are for a team, a class or a family group. There are two ways in: a personal email invite, or a join link you can post in WhatsApp, Slack or a class group. Single prompts can be shared with people by email too.
Invite by email#
- Open the board, choose Share, and type an email address or an @handle.
- Pick a role, Viewer or Editor, and send.
- The email says who invited them and the board's name. It never includes the prompts themselves.
- The invite works once and lasts 14 days. To accept, the person signs in with the same email address the invite went to, and it must be verified. If they're signed in with another address, they'll see a hint like “sent to n•••@gmail.com” and can switch accounts or ask you to invite the other one.
- No account yet? The link takes them to sign-up with their email filled in. Once they confirm it, every invite waiting for that address is accepted.
- Everyone who gets an invite email can stop future invites with one click in the email.
Share a join link#
Join links are for groups where you don't know everyone's email address.
- People who join with a link are always Viewers. You can make someone an Editor afterwards.
- A link lasts 7 days by default. A board has one active join link at a time, and you can revoke it whenever you like.
- Turn on Require my approval to see who asked to join before they get in. Useful when the link may travel further than you meant.
- Joining still needs a signed-in account, so you always know who's in the board.
Roles#
| Role | Can |
|---|---|
| Viewer | Open every prompt in the board, copy and fill them in, remix them, and save them to their own boards. |
| Editor | Everything a Viewer can, plus add, remove and reorder items, and add their own prompts. Editors can't change the text of someone else's prompt; they remix it instead. |
| Owner | Everything, plus the board's settings, visibility, members, join links, and deleting the board. |
Managing members#
- The members panel lists pending invites (resend or revoke them) and members (change their role or remove them).
- Removing someone ends their access immediately. They keep any remixes they made, because those are their own prompts.
- Members can leave a board at any time from the same panel.
Limits#
- You can send 20 email invites a day.
- A board can have 10 members on the free plan. Pro, when it launches, is planned to allow 100.
Invite emails share a daily sending allowance with sign-up and password emails. On a busy day you may see “Email invites are busy today. Share a join link instead.” Join links always work. Read more about visibility and sharing.
