The prompt
Help me explain a gap in my career honestly and briefly, for a TARGET ROLE application. Use this: - The gap: GAP LENGTH AND DATES - What I was doing, as much as I want to share: WHAT HAPPENED - What I did to stay current or what I learned: SKILLS KEPT UP - Where I'll use it: RESUME, COVER LETTER OR INTERVIEW Write: 1. One line for the resume (under 15 words) that names the gap without apologising. 2. Two or three sentences for a cover letter. 3. A spoken interview answer of about 30 seconds: what happened, what I kept up, why I'm ready for this role now. 4. A short reply if the interviewer asks a follow-up I'd rather not go into. Rules: - Never invent jobs, courses or dates. If SKILLS KEPT UP is empty, focus on readiness, not activity. - Keep health, family and other private reasons general unless I've said I want to share them. - Sound confident and matter-of-fact, not defensive.
