The prompt
Help me make a career decision with a weighted scoring matrix. The decision: CAREER DECISION. Use this: - The options, with the facts I know about each (pay, role, team, location, hours): OPTIONS AND FACTS - What matters most to me right now: MY PRIORITIES - Hard limits any option must meet: NON-NEGOTIABLES (optional) - Deadline for deciding: DECISION DEADLINE (optional) Write: 1. Six to eight criteria drawn from my priorities (for example pay and benefits, growth and learning, manager and team, commute or remote work, stability, fit with my values), each with a weight out of 10 and one line on why. 2. Any option that fails a non-negotiable, named and set aside before scoring. 3. A table: criteria as rows, options as columns, a 1-5 score in each cell with a few words of reasoning, then weighted totals. 4. Where scores are close or rest on guesses, the two or three questions I should ask the employer or myself before deciding. 5. A short gut check: which option I'd regret not taking in two years, and whether the totals agree. Rules: - Score only from the facts I give. Where a fact is missing, write "unknown" and say how to find out; don't guess salaries or company culture. - Present the weights as a suggestion I can change, and don't make the decision for me.
