The prompt
Write a structured interview question set for ROLE AND SENIORITY, so every candidate gets the same questions and is scored the same way.
Use this:
- The 4-5 skills or behaviours the interview must test: SKILLS TO ASSESS
- Interview length and who is on the panel: INTERVIEW FORMAT
- Situations the person will face in the job: REAL WORK SCENARIOS (optional)
Write:
1. A short opening script (under 60 words) the interviewer reads to every candidate.
2. For each skill: one main question (behavioural "Tell me about a time..." or a scenario from the real work), two follow-up probes, and a 1-4 scoring guide describing what a weak, adequate, good and strong answer contains.
3. One practical task or work sample the candidate could do in 20 minutes or less, if it suits the role.
4. A timing plan that fits the interview length, with 5-10 minutes for the candidate's own questions.
5. A scoring sheet: skills as rows, columns for score, evidence heard and interviewer initials.
Rules:
- Every question must link to a skill in SKILLS TO ASSESS. Nothing on age, family plans, health, religion, nationality, marital status or other protected characteristics, even indirectly ("Where do you see yourself at 50?").
- Plain wording a nervous candidate can follow, with no trick or brain-teaser questions.
- Score from evidence in the answer, not impressions; tell interviewers to note what was said.Fill in the blanks
