The extension puts your library next to the AI tools you use. It needs Chrome 116 or later. Install it from the extension page, then sign in with the same account you use here.
Open your library#
Click the Save My Prompts icon in Chrome's toolbar (pin it from the puzzle-piece menu so it stays visible) to open the side panel. It lists your prompts with search, favourites and tags, and has an editor for new prompts. The side panel stays open as you move between tabs.
Your library is kept on your computer as well as in your account, so search is instant and you can read and insert prompts offline. Changes you make offline sync when you're back online.
Insert into an AI chat#
Insert works on these sites:
- ChatGPT (chatgpt.com)
- Claude (claude.ai)
- Gemini (gemini.google.com)
- Perplexity (www.perplexity.ai, perplexity.ai)
- Copilot (copilot.microsoft.com)
Open one of them, choose a prompt and click Insert. If it has blanks, you fill them in first. The text goes into the chat box, ready for you to read and send. The extension never presses send for you.
If the extension can't find the chat box, for example because the site changed its layout, it copies the prompt instead and tells you to press Ctrl+V. On any other site, Insert copies too.
Capture from ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini#
When you're on ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, the side panel shows a capture bar with three buttons. Nothing is read until you click one.
- Save last prompt takes the last prompt you sent in this chat and opens it in the editor.
- Save + Improve types a request into the chat box asking the AI to improve that prompt. Press Send yourself. When the answer arrives, the editor opens with the improved prompt, and keeps your original prompt as an earlier version when it differs from the improved one.
- Create from conversation types a request asking the AI to turn the conversation into a reusable, structured prompt. Press Send yourself, and the result opens in the editor.
The extension never sends anything for you. The request goes from your chat box to that AI service under its terms, and nothing is saved until you review the result in the editor and press Save.
If your Chrome has built-in AI, it can suggest a title, description, category and tags on your device, and the editor's Improve button can tidy a prompt there without any chat. If it's not available, Save last prompt fills these in with simple rules instead, and you can always edit them. The editor's Improve button then tells you it's unavailable.
After you insert or copy a saved prompt, a small Did it work? question may appear, at most once per prompt a day. Your answers become counts on your own prompts.
Quick search#
Press Alt+Shift+P on any page to open the quick-search popup. Type a few letters, move with ↑ and ↓, press Enter to insert into the current AI tab, or Ctrl+C to copy.
To change the shortcut, open chrome://extensions/shortcuts and find Save My Prompts.
Save text from any page#
Select some text, right-click and choose Save as prompt. The side panel opens with the editor filled in: the text, a title from its first few words, and the page's address as the source. Edit anything, then save. It starts as Only me.
Prefer not to right-click? Turn on the floating “Save prompt” button in the side panel's Settings. Chrome will ask to let the extension read and change data on all websites, because the button has to appear wherever you select text. The button only sends the selection when you click it, and turning the setting off removes the permission again.
Permissions in plain words#
Chrome shows a list of permissions when you install. Each one, and exactly when it's used, is explained on the extension page. The short version: the extension acts on a page only when you click something, it never reads your browsing history, it reads a chat only when you click a capture button, and it has no ads or tracking.
If something doesn't work#
- Insert copied instead of inserting: reload the AI tab and try again. Tabs opened before you installed or updated the extension sometimes need this.
- Nothing happens on Alt+Shift+P: another extension may use the same shortcut. Change it at
chrome://extensions/shortcuts. - A prompt is missing: open the side panel while online so it can sync. Prompts you deleted elsewhere disappear here too.
Signing out removes your sign-in from the extension. To remove everything it stored on a computer, remove the extension from chrome://extensions. Still stuck? Contact us and mention your Chrome version.
