Your prompts are yours. You can take them with you, delete them, and see exactly what's visible to anyone else. The privacy policy has the full detail; this page covers what you can do yourself.
Export everything#
Go to Settings → Privacy and choose Export. You get one JSON file with your profile, prompts (including earlier versions), boards and their items, board memberships, likes and the invites you've sent. You can export twice a day.
For a single prompt, Download .md in the share sheet saves it as a Markdown file you can open in any text editor.
Delete a prompt#
Delete a prompt from its menu on the website, in the extension or in the app. It disappears everywhere straight away, and you can restore it for 30 days. After that, a daily clean-up erases it for good. If the prompt was public, it leaves the feed and search immediately; remixes other people made stay with them, marked “original removed”.
Delete your account#
Go to Settings → Account and choose Delete account. You'll be asked to sign in again to confirm. Deleting removes your profile, all your prompts (public ones too), boards, likes, saves and pending invites, and signs you out on every device.
This can't be undone, so export first if you might want your prompts later. Backups roll off within 30 days.
What other people can see#
- Prompts and boards you've made Public, or shared by link or invite, to the people they're shared with.
- Your @handle, display name, bio and links, once you set up a profile.
- On public prompts: the number of uses, saves, likes and remixes. These are counts, never names.
- Your likes, only if you choose to show them on your profile.
What nobody else sees:
- Your email address. Invite hints show it masked, like n•••@gmail.com, and only to the person invited.
- Your Only me prompts, unless you put them in an invite-only board.
- What you type into blanks. That stays in your browser and is never sent to us.
- Who used or saved a public prompt. Authors see totals and the domains that sent visitors, not people.
- Your searches of your own library, which run on your device.
Stats about you#
When you use a public prompt, it counts once a day toward that prompt's total, whether you're signed in or not. Signed out, we use a daily-changing hash instead of anything that identifies you, and the keys are deleted after two days. No cookies are involved. Your own uses of your own prompts don't count toward public numbers.
Ads and cookies#
Public pages may show Google ads once they're switched on. Choose Privacy choices in the footer to turn personalised ads and measurement on or off for this browser. The cookie policy lists every cookie.
Need something the settings don't cover, such as a copy of the data about you in a specific format, or a correction you can't make yourself? Use the contact form and choose “Privacy request”. We reply within 30 days. In India you can also contact our Grievance Officer.
