You can use Save My Prompts in Claude, Claude Code and Cursor, as well as in ChatGPT. Each of them connects to our MCP server at https://api.savemyprompts.net/mcp: you add that address, sign in to your Save My Prompts account and choose Allow. The app can then search your saved prompts, open one and save new ones. Nothing is connected until you do this, and you can disconnect at any time.
Connect Claude#
This works in Claude on the web and in the Claude desktop app. The connector belongs to your Claude account.
- In Claude, open Customize → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Enter
https://api.savemyprompts.net/mcpas the server URL. Leave the OAuth client ID and secret empty. If Claude asks how it should identify itself, keep the recommended Use Claude's published identity. Then choose Add. - Choose Connect. Our sign-in page opens: sign in with Google or your email and password.
- Check that the next page says Connect Claude to Save My Prompts and Sends access to: claude.ai, then choose Allow.
On Claude's Free plan you can add one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds the connector under Organization settings → Connectors, then each member connects with their own Save My Prompts account. Claude's own guide, adding a connector that isn't in the directory, has the details.
Connect Claude Code#
In a terminal, add the server:
claude mcp add --transport http savemyprompts https://api.savemyprompts.net/mcpAdd --scope user before the name to use it in every project, not just the current one. Then, in Claude Code, type /mcp, choose savemyprompts and follow the sign-in steps. Your browser opens our sign-in page. After you sign in, the page says Connect Claude Code to Save My Prompts and Sends access to: this computer (localhost), because Claude Code receives the sign-in on your own computer. Choose Allow only if you've just started this from Claude Code.
Connect Cursor#
In the Cursor desktop app, add the server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (every project) or .cursor/mcp.json in one project:
{
"mcpServers": {
"savemyprompts": { "url": "https://api.savemyprompts.net/mcp" }
}
}When Cursor asks you to sign in to the server, your browser opens our sign-in page. Cursor's desktop app also receives the sign-in on your computer, so the next page says Connect an app on this computer, shows the name the app gave itself, and warns that we can't verify it. Choose Allow only if you've just started this from Cursor.
What the app can do#
- Find and open your prompts. Ask something like “find my LinkedIn prompts”, then “use the second one”. This needs Read your saved prompts.
- Save a prompt. Ask “save this prompt to Save My Prompts”. It saves only when you ask, and can't edit or delete prompts you already have. This needs Save new prompts to your library. Prompts saved from Claude or Claude Code show Claude as their source.
- Improve a prompt, or turn a chat into a reusable template. The AI app's own model writes the new version; we just show it. Nothing is saved unless you ask.
- Say which account is connected, so you can check you signed in with the right one.
In ChatGPT these show as a card with a Save button. Apps without cards, like Claude Code, get the same results as text. Each account has a daily limit on these calls, which resets at 00:00 UTC.
What the app sees#
The app only gets what the consent page listed: your name and email address, and the prompts it searches for, opens or saves. It never sees your password. Prompts the app reads go to that AI company and are handled under its terms, so keep anything secret out of prompts you use there. The privacy policy and Your data explain what we keep.
Only allow a connection you started yourself, a moment ago. If the consent page names an app you didn't just connect, choose Cancel.
Disconnect#
- Claude: open Customize → Connectors and remove Save My Prompts.
- Claude Code: run
claude mcp remove savemyprompts, which also deletes its sign-in. To keep the server but sign out, choose Clear authentication in the/mcpmenu. - Cursor: remove the server in Customize, or delete its entry from
mcp.json.
If you sign in with an email and password, resetting your password ends every connected app's access at once; each one has to connect again. Prompts already saved stay in your library. If something doesn't connect, contact us and say which app you used.
